Lake Como, in Northern Italy’s Lombardy region is about an hour drive north of Milan, Italy.

From Milan airport, you should arrange a ground transportation (rental car, private shuttle, uber, taxi, bus, or train) to arrive to Como, Italy.

Our wedding venue is located in the Laglio village about 20 minutes north from the Como city center.

Many hotels and airbnb are available around the venue and the Como city center.

Where to Stay

Hotels and Airbnb

There are many hotels and airbnb options available near the venue along the shores of Lake Como as well as in the Como city center. The venue, which is located in the Laglio village of Como, is located 20-30 min north of Como city center. If you do not plan on renting a car during your stay in Italy, we recommend looking for a accommodation within the Laglio village to stay close to the venue. Regardless of where you decide to stay, plenty of public transportation methods are available within the area such as regional bus, uber, or taxi. If you are looking for more of a popular Lake Como experience, we recommend staying in the villages of Tremezzo or Menaggio, which are popular destinations that does not require a ferry ride across the lake.

EXPLORE COMO

Traveling between villages is the best way to explore the town of Como. Ferries are a great way to get across the lakes as well as private boat tour or services.

Some villages to highlight are Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio. You can walk the romantic pathway, Passeggiate defli innamorati in Varenna or visit Punta Spartivento of Bellagio for a beautiful scenic experience. Exploring villas in Como is an enchanting experience.

Few villas to note are Villa del Balbianello, known for featuring in various hollywood movies, Villa Carlotta, famous for its botanical gardens, Villa Monastero, also featuring a stunning botanical garden and a historic house museum.

In the city of Como, you can visit Duomo Di Como to explore Como’s largest Cathedral and also Basilica di San Fedele. While in the city, take the Como-Brunate Funicular which will take you to the mountain village of Brunate for breathtaking views.

Como is also known to be a city of silk. The region produces approx 75% of Europe’s silk that supplies popular luxury brands. To learn more, visit the Museo della Seta Como. You can also find some local stores specializing in silk in Como city center.

EXPLORE MILAN

As one of the fashion leading cities in the world, Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II is a must visit shopping centrale in Milan. In walking distance, you can visit the city’s symbol, Duomo Di Milano, a massive gothic cathedral. You can climb to the Duomo Terraces for panoramic views of the city and the alps. Also nearby, you can find Teatro alla Scala, one of the world’s most prestigious opera houses. Even if you don’t see a performance, you can tour the theater and its museum. Visit the Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie to see the world’s most famous mural, The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. Another notable historical landmark includes Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century fortress.

In Milan, you can get around the most parts of the city by using their metro system. You can also plan a day trip to most of its surrounding cities by high-speed train that departs from Milano Centrale.

If you want to take an unforgettable day trip, north of Italy, you can find a beautiful country of Switzerland. You are able to explore the alps and the beautiful landscape of Switzerland traveling in a panoramic iconic red train, Bernina Express, which will depart Tirano station, cross the border to Switzerland to St.Moritz station. This journey is a UNESCO world heritage experience and the train tickets are limited and you must book far in advance. You can plan to return the same day. However, getting to Tirano is a bit lengthy, it is bout 2.5hrs of direct train route from Milano Centrale. There is no direct route available from Como unless driving yourself. You may also book the Bernina Express day trip tour from Milan through various tour agencies, whom will charge more but will take care of your full day itinerary departing from Milan and back.
